Attack of the KILLER MINT FUDGE!

March 29th, 2007

I cleaned out my fridge today. It’s not like I have a ton of food anyway, but it was getting a funky odor - probably from the 2-week-old devilled eggs I still hadn’t eaten. I also got rid of some mysteriously old eggs (even though eggs technically never expire) and decided since I am flat broke (silly doggy robbing me blind!) I would eat everything in there before I went out and bought more food.

And by eating everything in there, I specifically meant about 2 pounds of delicious mint fudge I had in there from last Friday that Meredith made. Delicious, completely non-nutritious and absolutely, positively KILLER.

Yes, I ate the whole thing today. And now I feel horrible!

Curse my chocolate cravings!

I’m going back to bed.

Crap, it’s Monday again.

The worst thing about the weekend is that when it’s over, it’s Monday again. Mondays are a necessary evil - you need them to get to the rest of the week after all. Beau and I have fallen into a good schedule at least and this Monday has started off well (but of course I have yet to go to class or to work, so who knows?) Beau is learning quickly - he’s already learned to go potty on command, to load up in the car, and to wait patiently in his kennel for his breakfast and dinner. Last night he was dreaming up a storm, that’s for sure! He kept “running” in his sleep and whining on occasion, mixed with some snoring.

In other news, I am looking into getting out my lease for this apartment. There was a wreck here on Saturday night, and it has me pretty shaken up, considering my car was almost involved. Also, after talking to my neighbors, I have found out that there was also a murder-suicide here and an armed robbery. In building close to me. So, Mere and I have been talking and we’re looking into a getting a house or a condo together for the next four years. It’s going to cost a bit to break my lease, but it’s starting to kind of freak me out to live here. Considering on top of all of it the problems I have had with my neighbors and the trash, I really just want to get out of here now.

Also, according to Dan, Penny Arcade has discovered that birds have a “Weird Complex” in their brains, which is why they do weird stuff randomly sometimes. And well, if Penny Arcade says it, it must be true. So, I’m off now to class and my job working with weird birds!

There is a big wide world out there and it scares me sometimes

March 24th, 2007

Beau (yes, that’s is what I am going to call him) and I went for our first walk this morning. We got up at the crack of dawn (7 a.m.) when the world was still quiet and still and no one was awake or around (although today is Big Event, so probably a lot of people were awake). The park was deserted and other than the ducks’ quacking, it was silent as a graveyard.

Beau actually walks pretty well on the leash, most of the time. Today we played the drunken-dog routine and he weaved around all over the place. We were doing really well until we came within one mile of the backside of a building, and then he proceeded to freak out. Of course, the best way to alleviate your anxiety is to run circles around your person, doubling back and forth and nearly pulling them into the toxic-waste pond. Grrrreat idea, Beau!

But he seemed to enjoy the fact that there is a really big wide world out there, and even though it scares him sometimes (often for no reason, although there was a funny noise when I stepped on the manhole cover) the smells are just too many and too exotic to pass up. I can’t even imagine what must have been going through his head!

On our second round around the park, he walked right beside me (80% of the time) and actually got into the car by himself, well almost. We’ll probably go for a walk again tonight, but so far he hasn’t eaten or had anything to drink, so it’s not like he’ll ever have to go potty.

It was a long, restless night, but we’re getting the hang of it!
